Found in well wooded areas. Nests in various sites from thick undergrowth to high branches. Food includes young birds and eggs, fruit and acorns.          

 

 

A large, noisy woodland bird that can be remarkably self-effacing.    

Voice-Vocal, harsh skaark call, rarely heard soft chattering song.  

Habitat-Year-round resident over much of Europe except far N. Favours woodland.     

Nest-Untidy twiggy shallow cup in tree fork.    

Diet-Virtually omnivorous, taking a wide range of vegetable matter, along with the eggs and young of other birds.
