A warm welcome - thanks for dropping in.
Some of the material for this site is the work of Nick,as part of a programme at Youthmatters in Bedford. Several visits were made to Bedford Museum, most of the photographs were taken there and most of the descriptions come from there, with a few amendments. The site is always in the process of being updated and refined.
The advantage of photographing wildlife at a museum is that the object does not get up and go away! On the other hand, the challenge was that the subjects were behind glass cases, often with words or labels nearby! Though some attempt has been made to make the background as credible as possible, there are plenty of pictures where it is obvious that the objects are not alive!
The aim, quite simply, was to show what kinds of wildlife exist in Bedfordshire. The pages will be updated and expanded upon as time goes on.
For the benefit of those subsequently visiting the museum, the sequence is precisely as at the wildlife gallery, grouped as Town Life, Parks and Gardens, Woodland, Farmland and Wetland.
By the way, Bedford is a lovely place to visit. There are plenty of details about the town here.
Whilst there, do visit the Bedford Museum, which is within a stone’s throw from the centre of town. There are thousands of interesting items of all kinds, with very helpful attendants ready to help and advise.
Feel free to browse around this site. If you have comments or questions please drop me a line at Wildlife project.
I am indebted to the staff at Bedford museum for their unfailing cooperation and enthusiasm.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay!
