MusicYoung person MCing

Youth Matters has recently set up a training room fully equipped to teach music production. The room can cater for four learners at a time, who are taught using Steinberg’s Cubase software with Native Instrument’s plug ins.

The course is run as part of the e2e programme, with learners completing a third of their time at Youth Matters in music sessions. The remaining time is spent on the normal e2e programme. This is ideal for 16-19 year olds who would like to improve their prospects whilst learning something new or developing existing skills.

The course is based around the Rockschool Level 1 Certificate for Music Practitioners, offering an introduction to music production with a focus on contemporary urban music. Areas covered on the course include:

Basic music tMusic on the computerheory
Listening skills

Music technology equipment
Mixing and using effects
Music promotion

Having completed this programme young people will be able to move into further education or be better equipped to enter work.
