DANCE and DRAMA
A relatively new
project, the MADD Dance and Drama mornings,
have proved to be personal highlights for many of the learners. The project has
so far seen an E2E and A2B group of girls learning and opportunities for
choreographing both a street dance and a contemporary dance. Working together
to help each other, and having a good time along the way, the girls have used
these Wednesday morning to bond as friends and learn to trust each other.
Drama therapy workshops have seen the group explore life issues and express their opinions through the secure and often powerful form of theatre. Looking through topics such as bullying, the group has written a short sketch showing the deep context behind an individual who bullies, also focusing on the effect bullying has on people. Working together as actors, the learners have progressed hugely in their confidence to stand in front of a group, often hidden behind the drama mask of the character, and speak up about issues they will often rarely identify or want to discuss.
